Research Unit

The Department of Integrated Social Research and Development, ISI-Bengaluru envisions Interdisciplinary Research for Social Education and Empowerment. It is a resource and research centre enabling socially relevant research and training from the perspective of the development of the marginalised communities. The Department conducts training programmes on integrated social and cultural analysis and on social science research methodology for social animators, scholars, academicians and students. It conducts periodical training programmes on Cadre Formation for NGOs and community leaders at the national level. It undertakes both Documentation and Publications of Socially Relevant themes/issues in relation to Tribal, Dalit, Gender, and Cultural studies.

The functional dimensions of the Research department include:
• Interdisciplinary Approach to Subaltern Studies
• Research Undertaking and Publication of materials on Social, cultural, and Political Studies
• Societal Educational Training Programmes:
    (i) National and International Seminars/Conferences and Training Programmes on Social Animation
    (ii) Research Methodology Course for Students and Social Animators
• Engages the facilitation of Social Action & Research Study Circle (SARSC) amongst the interested/invited scholars and leaders.
