“I had migrated to Chennai from Bihar ten years back. My husband works in a manufacturing company as a security guard. I was working there as a cleaning staff. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a tumorous cyst in my left breast. I did not have enough money for surgery and due to the contractual nature of my job. I did not have a health insurance card. I had to get it operated not just once but thrice due to its recurrence in St. Thomas hospital and Royapettah Government Hospital under the reference of Jesuit Migrant Services. I have resumed my work after surgery. I can’t express my gratitude enough for lending me lifesaving support and helping me lead a normal life again.” said Ms Anima, a 32-year-old migrant woman.

Mr. Mohan, a 35-year-old Tamil migrant worker met with an accident in 2018. He was treated in Chennai Royapettah Government Hospital. Both his knees were fractured, and he was suggested to go for continuous physiotherapy. He could not continue physiotherapy due to the long distance from his village to the government hospital. He also did not have sufficient financial resources. Under the guidance of Jesuit Migrant Service, Chennai, in April 2022 Mohan was admitted again in a government hospital. Doctors have him given hope that he could walk by June 2022.

Mohan and Anima profusely thanked Indian Social Institute, Bangalore, and Caritas Germany for extending medical support to them.
