A three-day capacity building on, ‘Understanding and Reducing Vulnerabilities’ enabled 35 youth of Andhra Pradesh to discover their immense and innate potential within them to drive for social change. The active involvement and open-mindedness of the youth not only expanded their perspectives but also set the stage for a collective movement towards building resilient and inclusive communities.
Amulya, Intermediate 1st year student says, “By being proactive and facing challenges, we can empower people to be resilient. As collective, we need to work hand in hand, fostering resilience and embracing changes for a brighter tomorrow”. Amulya thanked the Indian Social Institute Bengaluru for enabling her with the needed training.
Krishna Veni, DIET student says, “Having attended this training program, I have gained valuable insights to help adolescent boys and girls in my community. They often face challenges such as limited access to quality education, early marriage, lack of sexual and reproductive health education, gender-based violence, and poverty. These vulnerabilities hinder their development and restrict their ability to reach their full potential”.
The training facilitator, Adv Karuna Rao observed a keen interest among the youth ready to build themselves with knowledge and skills. He motivated them to take active role in understanding the problems of the communities and support them to be self-confident and resilient.
Srinu, a 2nd year Degree student said, “Through this training program, I have realized the power of knowledge and collective action in fostering gender equality, promoting inclusive education, providing comprehensive healthcare services, and creating space for expressing one’s opinion, we can empower adolescent boys and girls”.
The training was held at Loyola Tribal Animation Centre, Seethampeta from June 5 till 7, 2023 as part of the program of Social Inclusion and Democracy Unit of Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru in collaboration with Loyola Tribal Animation Centre Seethampeta, LAYA, Seethampeta, Canossian Daughters Social Service Society Veeraghattam and Gopalapuram St.Ann’s Rajam and Holy Cross Society Thoodi
