A three-day capacity building on ‘Understanding and Reducing Vulnerabilities’ transformed the lives of 35 youth in Telangana zone. Equipped with knowledge and skills, they are now empowered to be agents of change. Together, they will create a resilient community, breaking the chains of vulnerability and fostering social justice. Their impact will inspire a brighter future for all.

Srileka, an Intermediate 2nd year student says ‘Inspired by the visionary leadership of Ambedkar and Komaram Bheem, I strive to champion equality, justice, and empowerment in my community. As I work tirelessly to uplift marginalized voices and break barriers of discrimination. I am dedicated to building a more inclusive and equitable society’. Srileka has emerged as an agent of change within her community and expresses her heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru for providing her with the invaluable training she needed.

Mangaiah a community mobiliser from SEWAA NGO, says in this training program we focused on the constitution and its fundamental rights. I have gained a deep understanding of Articles 14 to 26, with a special emphasis on Article 19. These articles hold immense significance in our lives. She is taking the initiative to form groups within her community. Her goal is to share this valuable information about constitutional rights and create awareness among community members. She says, “I am determined to make a positive difference in my community by promoting constitutional literacy and ensuring that everyone understands and exercises their rights. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future and uphold the principles enshrined in our constitution”.

J. Ushasri 1st year degree student shares her experience of participating in a transformative training program. ‘As I am a tribal girl, I have understood the immense power of education and training. It is important to bring positive change with newfound skills and a strong sense of determination’.

Prasanth, field co-ordinator of an NGO says, “My mission is to reduce vulnerabilities in my community. I am determined to create an action plan that addresses the root causes and provides sustainable solutions. Together, we will identify vulnerable groups, assess their needs, and implement targeted interventions”. Through advocacy, education, and support, Prashanth believes in empowering individuals to break free from the cycle of vulnerability and pave the way for a more resilient and inclusive community.

The training facilitator, Adv Karuna Rao observed the role in fostering a positive learning environment and supporting participants’ growth which is instrumental in achieving these positive outcomes. Celebrate their achievements and use them as a source of inspiration to continue his role as a facilitator.

The training was held at Bhadrachalam, Telangana from 26-28 July 2023  as part of Social Inclusion and Democracy Unit of Indian Social Institute Bengaluru in collaboration with Social Education and Welfare Activities Association (SEWAA) Sarapaka, Mother Voluntary Organization, Bhadrachalam, Adivasi Samaja Chaitanya Sangam (ASCS) Kunavaaram and Caussanel Foundation for Educational and Development (CAFED) Venkatapuram.
