The three-day training program on People’s Entitlements, organized by the Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru, helped 43 youth understand their rights to entitlements.. Participants learned about important documents like ration cards, voter IDs, Aadhaar, health cards and pensions, as well as how to get them. They were introduced to government schemes such as scholarships and skill development programs and trained to apply for certificates like birth, income, caste and disability certificates. The program gave them the confidence to claim their rights, improving their access to education, jobs and social services. It also encouraged them to actively support the growth of their communities.
Roja, a final-year degree student, and Anasuya from FMMSSS said, we learned that entitlements are legal rights provided by the government to improve our lives. We also learned how to get important documents like caste and income certificates. Our goal is to help the youth in our community applying for these documents so that they access the benefits from the government for their livelihood..
Nikith from LODIM SSS NGO said, I learned how important child safeguarding policies are for the protection of children.. Keeping children safe while they learn is crucial for their growth and success. I now understand how these policies help create a safe and caring environment for children. I am committed to working with schools in my area to raise awareness about these safety measures and ensure they are followed to protect all children and support their development.
E Kalyani from SHIRI NGO said, this training has inspired me to bring positive change in my community. I learned how to engage with people and organize useful sessions for youth and women to create awareness. I am committed to holding village meetings and public campaigns in Warangal district to improve understanding of governance and encourage active community participation.
The resource persons Dr. Chandra Mouli, Dr. A. Madhu, Dr. Ramoji Rao and Dr. D.Seetal equipped the youth with knowledge, confidence and responsibility as active citizens by sharing information about entitlements like ration cards, voter IDs, Aadhaar, health cards, pensions, and government schemes like scholarships and skill programs. They explained to the youth how to get these, where to apply, and how to approach the relevant departments. The youth understood better through active group discussions and chart presentations.. They also spoke on safety policies for children and women and encouraged the youth to spread the knowledge to others..
As a facilitator, it’s been inspiring to see the youth take on more responsibility for their community. The growth of 18 male and 25 female participants from Module 1 to Module 3 has been amazing. They have improved their leadership skills, critical thinking and commitment to making a difference. I am happy to see how the capacity building has helped them take action and support their communities. I feel proud to work with such energetic and motivated young people.
