The three-day residential training on Legal Literacy aimed to enhance youth understanding of legal rights, democratic values, and inclusive citizenship. Through interactive and participatory sessions, participants explored practical ways to apply legal knowledge in social and community contexts.

The program opened on 30th September 2025 with introductions and a reflective activity on Human Rights, connecting principles such as dignity, equality, and justice to real-life situations. Participants shared their experiences in civic engagement and expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming sessions.

On the second day, Mr Harichandran led sessions on Legal Awareness, focusing on Fundamental Rights and Duties, Constitutional Protections, Rights of Prisoners, False Allegations, and Civic Laws. He highlighted the role of legal literacy in empowering marginalized communities. This was followed by an interactive session on the Right to Information (RTI), emphasising transparency and accountability in governance. Team-building activities and a creative collage on Human Rights fostered reflection and collaboration among participants.

The final day featured ice-breaking activities and a motivational video discussion led by Mr Jefin, exploring perseverance and resilience in their community. Participants presented their Human Rights projects and share their views and thoughts. Later, Ms Elsy conducted an in-depth session on RTI and Human Rights, deepening participants’ understanding of legal processes and protections.

Leno, one of the participants, aptly shared:

“Legal literacy is not just about knowing our rights; It is about standing up for those whose voices go unheard.”
