Medical Camp for Migrants at CTC Carmelaram
The Department of Labour Migration at the Indian Social Institute organized a medical camp for migrant workers on 1 March 2026 at CTC Carmelaram in collaboration with St. John’s Medical College Hospital.
Around 99 migrants from different parts of Bengaluru received medical check-ups during the camp. A team of 7 doctors from different departments and 5 nurses from St. John’s Hospital conducted the examinations and provided medical advice and basic treatment.
Migrants who attended the camp were also issued hospital cards by St. John’s Hospital, which will help them receive priority treatment and concessional rates for consultation and medicines during future visits to the hospital.
The migrants expressed their happiness and gratitude for the initiative, while migrant leaders appreciated the continued efforts of the Department of Labour Migration in supporting migrant communities. The doctors and nurses were also happy to collaborate and render their services to migrants.
Participants came from different states such as Jharkhand, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, highlighting the growing need for accessible healthcare among migrant workers in Bengaluru.
We sincerely thank and appreciate Francis Balraj, Head of the Department of Social Inclusion and Democracy, for his valuable support and encouragement in the camp.
