A young and enthusiastic Mr. Vidhya Sagar,  pursuing his final year Bachelor of Law,  attended  the capacity building workshop on ‘Self and Society’. At the end of the workshop, he stated that  he  learnt how to be a reflective person. “The workshop methodology brought out my leadership qualities. I feel that I have a responsibility to contribute to my community. I am an ambitious and goal oriented person. I dream of becoming a judge or else I want to become a good community leader or a social worker and help the needy and vulnerable  people.” Sagar also said that the module on self and society was thought provoking and experience-based. He appreciated the motivating sessions by the resource persons.  

“From this training programme I have gained self-confidence, and courage. I had stage fear. By speaking before 34 youth I have become positive and assertive. Thank you for explaining about the  Preamble of the Constitution, which is the soul of India. My dream in life is to work with children. I am happy that I have understood the importance of self, society, community, and gender equality.  Now I am confident that when someone violates my rights, I  will raise my voice and also educate my colleagues about their rights,” said Mr. Stantosh.

The three-day training programme was organized by Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru (ISI-B) in collaboration with Gulbarga Diocese, Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) and Carmel Seva Trust from 22 to 24 July 2022. A total of 35 youth participated among them were 11  female and 24  male trainees. The resources persons were Mr. Manohar, Executive Director, CARE, Fr. Francis Balaraj, and Mr. Shujayathulla from Social Inclusion and Democracy, ISI-B.
