The fourth module ‘Understanding and Reducing Vulnerabilities’ created consciousness among the youth of the existing oppressive situation of the marginalised people in society. The module with an objective to build youth to be change agents, inspired them by speaking about Ambedkar, Periyar and local heroes who fought for social equality. This training increased the capabilities of the youth to address the local issues of the communities. On the 3rd day of the training, they worked out action plan, which included drafting letters to the principal regarding mandated industrial visits and inter-college cultural events, which didn’t take place for the past two-years. The youth collectively led and demonstrated signature campaign, “we reached nearly 100 fellow students explaining to them about the issue and collected signatures”, said Mr Dinesh. There was an overwhelming response for the campaign by the college students who volunteered to collect signatures. The mentors, Mr Velankani and Mr Shujayathulla instilled courage in youth to take such initiative.

Solomon who was part of the initiative said, “Within two days the college responded to our letter and stated that they will be arranging a ‘Sales Day’ event in the college on 01-July-2023. I was over joyed to see my fellow students celebrating the victory.

With much enthusiasm the youth submitted another letter to the Depot Manager requesting to increase the frequency of the bus services during the school/college hours. They expressed, lack of access to it has made the students struggle to cope up with their education. With the signature campaign, the youth reached 293 people in KGF explaining to them the urgent need of the students. Ms Satya Shree an active campaigner says, “I was in dilemma how things will end, but frankly speaking we were successful in collecting signatures. And we hope to receive a positive response from the Depot Manager”. The small but noble initiatives of these confident and energetic youth have made them feel that they do have an important role to play in addressing the issues of people.
