Vijitha, a 21-year-old tribal youth hails from the Thirunelly colony in Moolankave, Sultan Bathery, Wayanad, Kerala. She comes from a humble background but with a strong determination in life. Her both parents are daily wage labourers. Vijitha with hard efforts, successfully completed PU education. She then joined capacity building trainings organised by the Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru. It was an eye opener for her, she became resilient and gained more self-confidence. She was recognised with leadership skills. Acknowledging her potential, Ooru NGO recruited her to engage in community developmental works as a part timer. She gave her best and transformed the lives poor through her commitment.

When Vijitha became a beneficiary of housing scheme, she approached a contracter to build the house. But for her discouragement, the contractor deceived her by running away with money. However, her unwavering determination and courage was so strong, she vowed not let adversity define her future. She sought support from Indian Social Institute and Ms. Ammini Managing trustee of Ooru Education and Charitable trust, filed a police complaint. The police immediately acted on it and traced the contractor. The contractor apologised to Vijitha before the police and promised to build her house. Vijitha is greatful to Indian Social Institute and Ms Vijitha who stood by her in difficult times. Her dream became a reality. The construction of the house resumed without delay. Vijitha says, “I am resilient, I am strong and I am confident to fight for justice to poor”. This is an inspiring journey of Vijitha who ignites a flame of hope empowering others to persevere in the face of adversity. Vijitha’s triumphant journey exemplifies resilience and the transformative power of unity. She inspires others to never give up and fight against all odds.
