Awareness Program for Migrants in Mysore

On 3rd August 2025, an awareness program for migrants was organized in Mysore, bringing together 64 migrant participants. The session aimed to inform migrants about their rights, available government schemes, and the importance of unity in addressing their challenges.

Fr. Samir Minj, Unit Head of the Labour Migration Department, ISI Bengaluru, spoke about the present situation of migrants, highlighting their struggles and vulnerabilities in cities. He encouraged the participants to stay united and form associations or groups to strengthen their collective voice. He also explained the role of the Indian Social Institute’s Labour Migration Department and the vision and functioning of MAIN (Migration Action Information Network). Fr. Samir assured the migrants that ISI and MAIN would accompany them and provide guidance in times of distress.

The program also featured an address by Fr. Rakesh Bara from the ISI Social Inclusion and Democracy Unit, who emphasized the importance of safe migration practices and the need for migrants to remain vigilant and protected from exploitation.
