A three day training program on ‘Participation and Accountability’ in CDSSS, Veeraghattam, Andhra Pradesh, from 16th to 18th November 2023 by Social Inclusion and Democracy Unit of Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru, impacted 35 young trainers significantly about local government and the Panchayat Raj Act There were 20 male and 15 female participants. We focused on our role in helping our village grow and understanding important things like Panchayat schemes and reservations. The training gave us the knowledge and skills to help our community and make sure the Panchayat system works well. Now, we can actively contribute to our village’s development.

The Participants from Seethampeta zone, Andhra Pradesh, said the training on Panchayat Raj Institutions was really helpful for us. We learned about how power is shared in our village through the PRI ACT and its history. They taught us how to access different schemes in Panchayats and understand the reservation system. We even got to visit Panchayats to see local governance in action. They talked about what to do if our demands are not met and how to complain about Panchayat members who aren’t doing their job. We also learned about Youth Associations, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and NGOs. They told us how important SHGs are for making our village economically strong. We found out how to start our own youth associations and NGOs to help our community grow. In terms of careers, we focused on matching our skills with the jobs we like, exploring different paths, and setting goals for our future. The training was all about making us stronger so we can help our village develop better and everyone can enjoy their basic rights. Now, we feel more aware and committed to making positive changes in Veeraghattam.

The resource persons are made learning easy and fun, turning complicated things into simple, interesting stories during the training. Their awesome teaching helped us understand a lot.

Adv. Karuna Rao, as the facilitator of this training program, I am delighted to witness its success. The 35 participants eagerly embraced the chance to learn about the Panchayat Raj Act, local governance, and village development. Their active engagement highlights the positive impact of the training, bringing empowerment and deeper understanding to all involved.
