Empowering Migrant women: A New beginning for Sneha
On 8th July 2025, the Labour Migration Unit of ISI Bengaluru intervened to support Ms. Sneha Ekka (26 years) from Jashpur District, Chhattisgarh. She had been brought to Bangalore through an agent for work, but soon sensed irregularities and reached out for help. With the guidance of Fr. Samir Minj SJ and the assistance of team member Mr. Calvin, Sneha was located near Kanakapura and safely brought to ISI the same evening.
She was provided with accommodation for two days, during which counseling was offered by Fr. Samir Minj SJ and Mrs. Rosini Peter to understand her situation. Sneha had faced personal struggles, including divorce and lack of income, which made her vulnerable to unsafe work arrangements.
Through ISI’s resource network, she was connected to safe employment and accommodation, giving her the opportunity to start afresh. Sneha expressed her heartfelt gratitude to ISI Bengaluru and the Labour Migration Unit for the timely support and guidance that empowered her to begin a new chapter of life with dignity
