Ms. Sathya, a dedicated nursing professional, faced a challenging decision when she got married. Her family responsibilities made it difficult for her to continue her career or pursue higher education. However, her life took a remarkable turn when she participated in a Capacity Building Training program. Fueled by newfound knowledge and inspiration, Ms. Sathya made a determined choice to return to her educational journey. Her decision not only symbolized personal growth but also showcased the unyielding spirit that drives individuals to overcome obstacles and aim for greater achievements.
The three day training program successfully imparted knowledge and raised awareness about critical issues related to gender equality, women’s rights, and environmental sustainability. The participants left the program with a deeper understanding of these challenges and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities and beyond. The training program, named Module V on “Women and Mother Earth,” serves as a beacon of hope and learning. It educates young people about treating everyone fairly, understanding women’s roles, and caring for the environment.
Mohana Priya, a young woman in the prime of her education, shared a heartfelt story of being restricted by her family’s traditional expectations. Despite receiving a comprehensive education, her aspirations were stifled by societal norms that dictated women should primarily focus on family responsibilities. Mohana Priya’s story served as a powerful reminder of the prevalent societal norms that often limit women’s autonomy and opportunities.
However, she refused to accept her current situation passively. With unwavering determination, Mohana Priya believed that women’s rights should not be granted but claimed. Her resolute belief in seizing her own rights for empowerment and self-advocacy resonated with countless women seeking to break free from traditional expectations.
Both Ms. Sathya and Mohana Priya represent stories of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of personal growth and empowerment. Their experiences shed light on the challenges faced by many women in balancing family expectations and personal aspirations, ultimately advocating for a future where women can pursue their dreams without gender-based restrictions.
It was a collaborative effort involving multiple partner NGOs in Salem, including RWD Trust, ASAD Trust, and HOME Trust. The program successfully gathered 52 enthusiastic youths, consisting of 6 males and 46 females, who were eager to participate and learn.
