“Fashion designing is one of the dream jobs I could ever think of. This course has given me the opportunity to know the preliminaries of fashion designing and helped me in shaping my entrepreneurship goals”, said Ms. Umi, a girl from a minority community and a beneficiary of the fashion designing course.
“After attending this programme, I feel confident that I can start earning through my fashion designing skills which I have acquired recently and want to start my own clothes store one day” exclaimed Ms. Gangi, a young girl belonging to the Dhangar tribe, a pastoral community from ta remote Gaondongrim village at Canacona, Goa.
17-year-old Ms. Revina, one of the participants candidly expressed, “So far, I thought I should do one work and do it well. I was losing many new opportunities. After attending the Time Management training, I feel that I can multitask by enlisting the tasks and prioritising them so that I can complete many things in a day”.
On 29 October 2021, a programme was organized to mark the conclusion of the Fashion designing course conducted by Divya Gyan Social Centre with the support of Indian Social Institute, Bangalore and Social Outreach Programme of The Goa Xavier Company. The resource person of the programme was Ms. Selma Vaz, lecturer at Government higher secondary, Canacona. While speaking on Entrepreneurship and time management, Ms. Vaz shared her own experiences in time management and multi-tasking and kept the group motivated. Ms. Meena, another resource person, shared with the girls her experiences in fashion designing. The 29 young girls, the beneficiaries of the Fashion designing course were beaming with joy and looked highly motivated to step out to start their own businesses. Another 19 girls are under training and will soon complete the course. Fashion designing journals were distributed to the participants.
