Basic Module 1: Self and Society, aimed to inspire youth by adopting self-exploration and helping them recognize their potential to achieve their dreams. The module encouraged participants to reflect on their roles as individuals within their families and communities and to actively contribute to community-based activities. Through a motivational session on self-awareness, self-esteem, and leadership, participants gained valuable insights into building confidence, enhancing their decision-making skills, and stepping into leadership roles. Additionally, the screening of the movie         ‘Jai Bhim’ provided a thought-provoking narrative on social justice and equality, sparking meaningful discussions about community challenges and the responsibility of youth as agents of change. The combination of introspection, learning, and inspiration created a complete foundation for personal and collective growth.

A young participant Mr. Umesh shared his thoughts, saying, “The program was excellent, and I learned many new things from this training. I appreciate the way we were taught; it was clear, meaningful, and impactful. I gained insights about myself, society, and our country, which has greatly contributed to my personal growth and empowerment.

Ms. Jyothi said, “The caste discrimination divides us all, instead we should have respect for every religion and live in equality”. She also expressed her respect for diversity  of culture, language, and beliefs. Jyothi said, our elected political leaders  should serve public welfare and not their selfish interests.

Another youth, Mr. Mahesh L.D., shared his aspirations saying, “I have a goal and purpose for my community. I want to achieve great things for my people. My first step is to grow as a person and empower my people by helping them understand what is right and wrong, sharing my learnings, and adhering to the guidance of resource persons”. He said, by  exchanging experiences and promoting positive ideas, I want to promote unity and self confidence in my community.  I envision a community of equality, brotherhood, and sisterhood, free from discrimination based on caste, religion, or gender.

While interacting with the youth and learning about their perspectives on becoming responsible democratic citizens and contributing to an egalitarian society, I felt deeply satisfied with their growth and the effectiveness of the training modules provided by the Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru.
