Meeting with Migrant Youth in Hoody
On 13th July 2025, Fr. Samir Minj, Unit Head of the Labour Migration Department, ISI Bengaluru, met with around 60 migrant youths in Hoody. The gathering provided a platform for the young migrants, mostly from northern and eastern states, to share their experiences, struggles, and aspirations.
Fr. Samir spoke about the challenges faced by migrant youth in cities, including job insecurity, lack of access to government schemes, and the risk of exploitation. He encouraged them to remain united as a community, to support each other, and to be aware of their rights. He also explained the vision and role of the Indian Social Institute’s Labour Migration Department and the MAIN (Migration Action Information Network), urging the youth to stay connected with these networks for guidance and support in difficult situations.
