Migrant Youth Football Tournament: A Celebration of Unity and Spirit
On 17th August 2025, the Labour Migration Department of ISI Bengaluru, in collaboration with Ashirvad Social Centre, MAIN Karnataka Hub, and Whitefield Youth Football Club, organized the Migrant Youth Football Tournament at St. Joseph’s University Grounds, Bengaluru.
The one-day knockout tournament brought together 16 migrant youth teams and nearly 400 migrants, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, sportsmanship, and community bonding. The event was conducted smoothly with the presence of four professional referees and the dedicated support of volunteers who ensured all arrangements were well managed.
After a series of exciting matches, ABC Football Club lifted the championship trophy, securing a cash prize of ₹30,000 along with medals for all players. SJU Football Club emerged as the runner-up, winning ₹20,000, a trophy, and medals. All participating teams received mementos in appreciation of their spirited participation.
The valedictory function added a cultural flavour to the day. The chief guest, Mr. R. Shridhar, lauded the initiative for creating a platform that not only nurtures sports talent but also builds a sense of unity and belonging among migrant youth.
The organizers and participants expressed deep gratitude to St. Joseph’s University and Arrupe Nivas Community for their unwavering support in providing facilities and making the tournament a grand success.
