“I am feeling very happy to partner with Indian Social Institute on Capacity Building of Youth from 2022-2024 as it is aimed towards building leadership among grassroot level youth”, said Alamelu, Rural Women Development Trust, Tamil Nadu. Sr. Shobha JMJ, Devar Hippargi, from Karnataka said, “I am enriched by the sharing of transformative stories of youth leaders. I am looking forward to the same in the coming two years. Such programmes are the need of the hour, I am excited to take off from here”. Mr. Dominic Mathew, working as staff of Socio-religious centre, Calicut, Kerala highlighted two important aspects: 1. Training on the Constitution and 2. Partnership Model of organising the training.
“It is not an easy task to organise capacity building programmes for people between the age 18-35 years. But ISI-B is doing it. Motivating girls to participate in the training might be a tough task since some parents may not agree to send them. Keeping girls and boys together in the programme will be also a challenge, but we will not give up. We believe that this programme will bring sustainable and lasting changes among the youth. Through the youth the whole village will benefit”, says Ms. Shesharathnam, Women Association for Gender Equality, Andhra Pradesh.
On 6 April 2022, the Social Inclusion & Democracy Unit of the Indian Social Institute, Bengaluru organized a day-long consultation with the heads of NGOs from South India on Capacity Building of Youth, a two-year process from 2022-2024. This training programme is aimed towards building informed and knowledgeable youth leaders who will accompany and serve the marginalized communities. 55 heads of collaborative NGO partners from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Kerala and Karnataka took part in it.
