“I am a migrant worker from Anand district of Gujarat. I met with a bike accident and seriously injured my leg. My leg had to be operated on and I was hospitalized for six months. I am a painter by profession. We were a group of 13 workers. Others dispersed and moved away for their livelihood. My cousin Mr. Sohal Sheikh stayed back to take care of me. As I was bed ridden, I had no income and no money to buy food. All my savings were spent in the hospital for operation and post-operative care. Having heard of my condition, Jeevika provided me with medical help. It was a great relief for me and my family. I was also offered a walker and a toilet chair. I was also given a dry ration kit. After six months of treatment, now I can walk with the help of a walker and have gradually started resuming my painting work. I am hopeful that soon I will be able to resume my painting work and earn my livelihood”, expressed Mr. Shamsuddin Sheikh.
