United Voices for Unorganised and Migrant Workers
On 14th September 2025, Gandhi Bhawan in Bengaluru became the gathering point for a powerful meeting organised by Jan Sakti Trade Union. Trade unions working for the rights of unorganised labourers came together, joined by representatives from the Department of Labour Migration (ISI B), special invitees Fr. Samir Minj and Mr. Calvin, along with ten migrant leaders.
The meeting focused on a pressing issue: while laws and policies exist to protect unorganised and migrant workers, their implementation remains weak, leaving workers underpaid and vulnerable.
Speakers unanimously emphasised the need for unity and collective action. Fr. Samir, addressing the gathering, highlighted:
“Individually, every union is doing commendable work. But this is the time to come together and raise our voices as one. Only then will our demands be heard, and justice delivered.”
Over 300 participants from various trade unions attended, creating a strong atmosphere of solidarity and determination. The call was clear — to pressure the government for proper implementation of labour laws and policies that safeguard the rights of unorganised and migrant workers.
This meeting marked an important step toward building a united front that can no longer be ignored.
